The Highest Of Hopes

My Rating: 5 Stars This was an enjoyable read overall. I will say Emma kind of annoyed me at times early in the book but by the end of the book I loved her character. This book hit kind of close to home for me as my dad has never been a part of my life so I could identify well with Emma’s desires and feelings. The plot and story flowed well and kept a good pace despite the fact the book is a longer read. I am looking forward to the finale of this set!

One Potato, Two Potato, Dead

My Rating: 5 Stars
Another fun and enjoyable visit to The County Seat with Angie and her friends. I really wish the restaurant was real-I would love to eat there...if I could get a reservation! The mystery was solid and had plenty of moments that kept me wondering who the killer would turn out be. I enjoyed the banter in the book especially between the Sheriff  and Angie when he comes to tell her of the murder. That scene made me laugh. A quick and easy read with lots of fun along the way. I easily devoured this in one day! Highly recommend for cozy mystery lovers everywhere!

A Tender Hope

My Rating: 5 stars
“A Tender Hope” is a sweet, sweet story. I am new to the Cimarron Creek Trilogy but this finale to the set was a wonderfully entertaining read. While I know the two couples in this book have their stories told in the first two books of this series, this book does a great job of letting you in to their stories while building a lovely tale of mystery, romance and danger for Thea & Jackson. The first two books in this series are going high on my to read list as I want all the details of Travis & Lydia and Austin and Catherine and how their love came to be. I loved the mystery angle and what brought Jackson and Thea together. It kept me invested throughout and the side story of Aimee was a charming addition. I would actually love to read more of Aimee’s story! This book was a perfect mix of romance, mystery, wonderful characters and all set in the fun time period of 1880’s Texas. I mean really what more could you ask for? I will be reading more of Amanda’s books very soon!!!

Courting Mr. Emerson

My Rating: 5 stars

This book completely charmed me. I adored the character of George, I just want to give him a huge hug and adopt him!!! This was a sweet easy read with a lot of heart packed into its pages. I identified a lot with Willow, although I am not quite the free spirit she is, I could see myself trying just as hard to bring George out of his shell. The character of Josie was a great element to the plot of the story and I enjoyed seeing her growth in the book as well as George’s. This story just had a comforting feel to it, that I can’t quite explain, but I truly loved this book. Lovely characters and a sweet plot make this a 5 star read for me and this book has a place on my keeper shelf!

My Heart Belongs In The Blue Ridge: Laurel’s Dream

My Rating: 5 stars
This was my first introduction to Pepper Basham and it will NOT be my last. This book has it all: humor, great characters, an interesting setting  and an enjoyable storyline. Early in the book it had several super funny lines and I was instantly hooked. I will be looking in to other works by Pepper very soon! Utterly charming read!

Death By Committee

My Rating: 5 Stars
This was a great start to a fun new cozy series! I read a lot of cozy mysteries and this was truly one of the best I have found. It starts off well and had me involved in the story early on. The goats being hired to clear a bramble patch was new to me and a fun element especially how it plays in to a body being discovered. That was an unusual and memorable way for a body to be found. There was quite a bit of humor and sarcasm in the book which I liked a lot(I speak fluent sarcasm!). Tripp was probably my favorite character in the book. I like Abby as well but she did kind of annoy me a couple of times. The culprit was fairly obvious(to me anyways) but the story still kept me engaged and wanting to find out for sure if I was right. All in all, a solid debut for this new series, which I recently learned has a predecessor fiction series I will be investigating soon! Looking forward to book two releasing later this year!!

When Life Doesn’t Match Your Dreams

My Rating: 5 stars

This was an extremely intriguing read! This is my first read by Jill but it will not be my last. Drawing parallels between several of the Old Testasment women and our problems of today, I found this to be a quick and easy read with a lot of truth and good perspectives on dealing with the hard stuff of life. This book definitely makes me think about the trials these women faced and how they might have felt during and after them and how that translates to things I face today. The chapter on Hagar I think resonated with me the most as I struggle with loneliness. All of the chapters were excellent at breaking things down and made for a great read.
