No One Ever Asked by Katie Ganshert

No One Ever Asked
by Katie Ganshert

WOW! This book was ah-mazing! Katie wrote a fantastic story filled with real characters, real emotions, real problems and social injustices that need to be discussed and changed...and she reminded us within the book that change starts with us. There really aren't enough words to adequately review, other than to say, READ THIS BOOK! That sums it up nicely.

A Secret Courage

A Secret Courage
By Tricia Goyer
The London Chronicles #1

Let me start by saying, World War Two books are some of my most favorites to read. I have long been fascinated by WW2 since I was in grade school and was in a special enrichment class that spent my whole 3rd grade year studying it. This isn't my favorite WW2 ere book...(The Swiss Courier by this author and Mike Yorkey is probably my favorite), but I did enjoy it. I never knew about the women who studied photographs of Germany to help with winning the war, so that made for an interesting angle. I liked the characters of Emma and Will and the setting sounded beautiful. I enjoyed Emma's backstory with where she grew up and her love of lighthouses. That was pretty cool. I love forward to the next book in the series and I hope we see these characters again.

The Weaver's Daughter

The Weaver's Daughter
by Sarah E. Ladd

Wow! This was quite a story! Sarah wove a beautiful tale of love, betrayal, forgiveness and so much more into "The Weaver's Daughter." This was unlike any story I have read before with the town of Amberdale locked in a bitter dispute between weavers and mill owners. I literally wasn't sure what would happen next or what the ending would be, but the story was delightful and kept me entertained and enthralled until the very end. Sarah is a can't miss author in regency Christian Fiction and this book is no exception. If you like regency stories, check this one out!

I received this book from the author and wasn't required to post a positive review. All thoughts are my own.

Beneath The Surface by Lynn H. Blackburn

Beneath The Surface by Lynn H. Blackburn
Paperback352 pages
Published March 6th 2018 by Fleming H. Revell Company
If you caught my blog yesterday, I said this review was coming soon. :)

This was a fantastic, keep you on the edge of your seat ride! I have read Lynn's earlier Love Inspired Suspense books and I thoroughly enjoyed them. When I heard she was releasing a full length novel I was excited to give it a read. I am so glad I did. Her main female character Leigh being adopted as a baby from China(how cool is that?). It's also chock full of several laugh out lines, my favorite being:
"And something other than Coke to drink."
"I like it."
"That stuff can kill you."
"It's going to have to get in line."
Since I am a major coke drinker that back and forth tickled my funny bone!

I also adored the fact that the main male character's nephew had autism. He doesn't play a major role but still being someone affected by autism, that was a nice addition. I also loved the character of Mr. Cook. He was a no nonsense kind of guy who aided Leigh and Ryan early in the book. I would have liked to see more of him. The mystery was intense and kept me guessing throughout. Very well written, and that is coming from someone who reads and watches a LOT of mysteries.

All in all, this was a can't miss mystery and I am eagerly looking forward to the next books in this series....and so is my husband who read the book before I good get my hands on it!

Stay tuned for my next review, "The Weaver's Daughter" by Sarah Ladd

Wedding Cake Crumble

Wedding Cake Crumble by Jenn McKinlay
Cupcake Bakery Mystery #10

This is another laugh out loud romp with Mel, Angie, Tate and the rest of the gang. This is the funniest one of the set in my opinion and my favorite thus far and I thought Sugar and Iced was as funny as it could get...so Wedding Cake Crumble and Sugar and Iced may be tied for favorite. I read several scenes out loud to my hubby because I was laughing so hard and he wanted to know why. Now, he might read the book too! Jen writes fantastic cozy mysteries that are full of great characters(I ADORE Marty), fun plots, a good mystery and hilarious scenes throughout. She is one of the best cozy mystery authors out there and I can't wait for the next book!!

An Author Meet & Greet!!

This past Saturday I had the privilege of meeting 6 incredible authors at the Branson, Missouri Library. Karen Witemeyer, Becky Wade, Katie Ganshert, Jody Hedlund, Courtney Walsh, and Julie Klassen were all in attendance. They along with Dani Pettrey, who was unable to attend, call themselves the Inkettes and they meet once a year (I believe) in a different location to write and fellowship with each other. This year they came to Branson! Becky then got in contact with the Branson Library to see about hosting an event. I am so glad they did! There was a wonderful turnout of many ladies and even a couple of gentlemen! We spent an enjoyable couple of hours listening to the authors speak on their books, where their ideas come from and much more. Then we got to chat one on one with the authors and get books signed and pictures taken. These ladies were gracious and kind and I had a ball at this event!! I even won a copy of Katie's newest book "No One Ever Asked" during a trivia game. Look for that review coming very soon!!

The Library was a perfect spot for this event and let me let you in on a little secret about the Branson Library. They receive NO funding from the any of the Local, State or Country levels. They rely solely on donations from the community. The have only 3 paid staff members and 2 of them are only part-time! They have multiple volunteers that help out and you can clearly see that this library is a labor of love. They have a fairly extensive collection of checkout materials considering what they have to work with and they have one of the most beautiful children's sections I have ever seen. I am in awe of this Library!

Pelican Point by Irene Hannon

Pelican Point by Irene Hannon

Pelican Point is another perfect trip to Hope Harbor, Oregon. This is the 4th installment and each one has been a wonderful mix of an adorable town setting, great characters, interesting plots and fish tacos made by one of the characters that I wish were real and gettable. They make my mouth water every time they are mentioned, in fact the tacos are pretty much a character of their own! Yum! This series is fantastic and I can not recommend it enough!! This series is definitely a part of my keeper shelf.

What's New

So I am currently reading "Beneath The Surface" by Lynn Blackburn. My review is coming soon but I am loving this first in a new series by Lynn. There are several elements that are making this a fun and enjoyable read.

Hello Again!

Hello World!
So I started this blog nearly 4 years ago. I wrote a few posts and then life happened. I got pregnant with my 2nd child and I had two under 2 years old while working a full-time job. Writing on my blog? Forget about it. Fast forward to April 2018. I am a reviewer for several Christian Fiction authors and I need a place to post about those reads as well as my "for fun" reads, as well as music, movies and TV shows that speak to me and my life in general. So I am going to give this another go.  I am excited to dive in!
