This past Saturday I had the privilege of meeting 6 incredible authors at the Branson, Missouri Library. Karen Witemeyer, Becky Wade, Katie Ganshert, Jody Hedlund, Courtney Walsh, and Julie Klassen were all in attendance. They along with Dani Pettrey, who was unable to attend, call themselves the Inkettes and they meet once a year (I believe) in a different location to write and fellowship with each other. This year they came to Branson! Becky then got in contact with the Branson Library to see about hosting an event. I am so glad they did! There was a wonderful turnout of many ladies and even a couple of gentlemen! We spent an enjoyable couple of hours listening to the authors speak on their books, where their ideas come from and much more. Then we got to chat one on one with the authors and get books signed and pictures taken. These ladies were gracious and kind and I had a ball at this event!! I even won a copy of Katie's newest book "No One Ever Asked" during a trivia game. Look for that review coming very soon!!
The Library was a perfect spot for this event and let me let you in on a little secret about the Branson Library. They receive NO funding from the any of the Local, State or Country levels. They rely solely on donations from the community. The have only 3 paid staff members and 2 of them are only part-time! They have multiple volunteers that help out and you can clearly see that this library is a labor of love. They have a fairly extensive collection of checkout materials considering what they have to work with and they have one of the most beautiful children's sections I have ever seen. I am in awe of this Library!
